Dark Dance for Flute Choir and Fixed Media - Sheet Music

$40.00

Dark Dance is a flute choir piece that explores a modern, tonal, “pop” flute choir sound intended to appeal to mainstream audiences. As a teen, one of my favorite TV shows was a popular drama featuring vampires living among humans. While composing this piece I hoped to conjure up a hazy, dark, pulsing dance club as a group of vampires arrives to mesmerize unsuspecting humans.

The 53rd National Flute Association Convention in Atlanta celebrates unity and universal oneness, themes to be explored in this commissioned work between Atlanta-based flutist-composer Dr. Kelly Catlin and the University of Georgia Flute Studio, led by Professor Angela Jones-Reus. This piece will blend prominent beats and an EDM-style track with beautiful, tonal melodies and harmonies in the flute choir and track, thus merging musical genres and styles.

Difficulty level: ~Grade 4, some difficult 16th and 32nd note rhythms and quarter note triplets, highest note in the first flute part is a C7
